BIIAB Level 2 Award in Door Supervision

Our BIIAB Level 2 Award in Door Supervision is a nationally recognised qualification and is endorsed by the SIA and regulated by Ofqual.

This nationally recognised qualification is the industry standard and enable a person to apply for a licence to practice to meet the SIA standard from 01/01/2015.  

Course Content

The BIIAB Award in door supervision is recognised qualification by the SIA and consists of four units:

Unit 1: Working within the Private Security Industry

  • Know the main characteristics of the Private Security Industry
  • Understand legislation as it applies to the individual in carrying out a licensable activity
  • Understand the importance of safe working practices to comply with legal requirements
  • Understand emergencies and the importance of emergency procedures
  • Understand the importance of communication skills and customer care

Unit 2: Working as Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry

  • Understand the role and objectives of a door supervisor
  • Understand civil and criminal law relevant to a door supervisor
  • Understand searching relevant to a door supervisor
  • Understand powers of arrest relevant to a door supervisor
  • Understand drug-misuse issues and procedures relevant to the role of a door supervisor
  • Understand incident recording and crime scene preservation relevant to the role of a door supervisor
  • Understand licensing law and social responsibility relevant to the role of a door supervisor
  • Understand emergency procedures which should be followed by a door supervisor
  • Understand how a door supervisor can help to keep vulnerable people safe

Unit 3: Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry

  • Understand the principles of conflict management appropriate to their role
  • Understand how to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations
  • Understand how to communicate in emotive situations to de-escalate conflict
  • Understand how to develop and use problem solving strategies for resolving conflict
  • Understand good practice to follow after conflict situations

Unit 4: Physical Intervention Skills within the Private Security Industry

  • Understand physical interventions and the implications of their use
  • Understand how to reduce the risk of harm when physical intervention skills are used
  • Be able to use non-aggressive physical skills to protect yourself and others
  • Be able to use non-pain related standing, holding and escorting techniques, including non-restrictive and restrictive skills.
  • Understand good practice to follow after physical interventions.

How long is the training course?

The course will take 4 days, including the three examinations, 30 hours minimum contact time (38 guided learning hours). Includes all exams, and certificates for the four days training.

What is the test like?

Unit 1: 25-question multiple-choice examination paper
Unit 2: 40-question multiple-choice examination paper
Unit 3 : 25-question multiple-choice examination paper.
Unit 4: On going practical assessment throughout the course by the tutor and a 10 true or false questions marked by the course tutor.

When do I get my results?

Normal practise with us is that we tell you within 4 days if you have passed and give you your code. This enables you to send for your SIA license straight away.

BIIAB Level 2 Award in Upskilling Door Supervision

Our BIIAB Level 2 Award in Upskilling Door Supervision is a nationally recognised qualification and is endorsed by the SIA and regulated by Ofqual.

This qualification is aimed at Door Supervisors that achieved their qualification prior to June 2010.
The qualification has been developed to meet the mandatory SIA top up training requirement for Door Supervisors as of 1/1/2015. Qualified learners who complete the qualification will be eligible to apply to renew their SIA Door Supervisors licence.

Course Content

The BIIAB Award in upskilling door supervision is recognised qualification by the SIA and consists of two units:

Unit 1: Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry

  • Understand physical interventions and the implications of their use
  • Understand how to reduce the risk of harm when physical intervention skills are used
  • Be able to use non-aggressive physical skills to protect yourself and others
  • Be able to use non-pain related standing, holding and escorting techniques, including non-restrictive and restrictive skills
  • Understand good practice to follow after physical interventions

Unit 2: Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors within the Private Security Industry

  • Understand counter terrorism issues relevant to a door supervisor
  • Know the role of a door supervisor when first aid situations occur in licensed premises
  • Know legislation and requirements regarding children and young people relevant to a door supervisor
  • Understand how a door supervisor can help to keep vulnerable people safe
  • Understand queue management and venue capacity responsibilities relevant to a door supervisor 

How long is the training course?

The course will take 2 days and includes all exams, and certificates for the two days training.
What is the test like?

Unit 1: This unit is assessed in two parts. Part one is a practical test and part two is a written true/false test
Unit 2: This unit is assessed by a 10-question multiple-choice examination

When do I get my results?

Normal practise with us is that we tell you within 4 days if you have passed and give you your code. This enables you to send for your SIA license straight away.

BIIAB Level 2 Certificate for CCTV Operators

Our BIIAB Level 2 Certificate for CCTV Operators (Public Space Surveillance) will form part of the requirement needed to gain an SIA Licence to Practice.

This nationally recognised qualification is the industry standard and enable a CCTV operative to apply for a licence to practice to meet the SIA standard from 01/01/2015.

Course Content

The BIIAB Award in CCTV Operations is recognised qualification by the SIA and consists of two units:    

Unit 1: Working within the Private Security Industry

  • Know the main characteristics of the Private Security Industry
  • Understand legislation as it applies to the individual in carrying out a licensable activity
  • Understand the importance of safe working practices to comply with legal requirements    
  • Understand emergencies and the importance of emergency procedures
  • Understand the importance of communication skills and customer care

Unit 2: Working as a CCTV Operator within the Private Security Industry    

  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of the CCTV operator and other CCTV staff
  • Understand CCTV codes of practice, operational procedures and guidelines
  • Understand relevant legislation and how it impacts on CCTV operations
  • Understand emergency procedures in the CCTV control room
  • Understand the characteristics of a CCTV system
  • Understand Health and Safety relevant to the CCTV operator

Unit 3: Practical Operation of CCTV Equipment within the Private Security Industry

  • Understand how to use CCTV equipment
  • Be able to operate the CCTV system

Knowledge and Practical-based Training and Assessment (32 hours)

The qualification provides candidates with the right to work within the CCTV (public space surveillance) industry; it also provides candidates with the basic knowledge and understanding of the industry.

How long is the training course?

The course will take 4 days, including the two examinations, Total 32 hours. Includes all exams, and certificates for the four days training.

What is the test like?

There is two multiple choice examinations. Plus you will have a practical assessment that is carried out in a live CCTV control room.

When do I get my results?

Normal practise with us is that we tell you the next day if you have passed and give you your code. This enables you to send for your SIA license straight away.
